Ship Showdown Has Begun!

Hello all! I hope you’ve all been having a great week and weekend! This week brings a long-expected content drought to an end, with the kickoff of the annual Ship Showdown, as well as great news coming from the dev teams on the highly anticipated cargo patch that is 3.24!

Ship Showdown began last Tuesday, with players and content creators swarming the event posts with their greatest content in order to swing favor to their favorite ships to make the top 16 of the tournament! Reaching top 16 will provide discounted prices to these ships, and in a voting format they’ll day by day reduce down to the top 4 favorite ships which will each get an exclusive themed livery and be included in a special sale package with Lifetime Insurance! The victor of the top four will get bragging rights! However, this year there is a special twist… not only will content submission be considered for ships to become the popular top 16, but flight time will also be a factor, so get out there and fly! Another addition to the rules this year stipulates a series of categories, in an attempt to balance the winning ships by role:

– Heavy Duty Division (Industrial)
– Speed Demons Division (Racing)
– Run & Gun Division (Combat)
– Pathfinder Division (Exploration)
– Freighter Division (Transport)
– Alien Division (Alien Vehicles)
– Road Warrior Division (Ground Vehicles)
– Underdog Division (The Little Guys)

Each category is allotted two ships per. Those ships without dedicated categories will still be included in the closest matching category as deemed by CIG (i.e. Touring). Good luck, and may the most popular ships win!

3.24 is making headway, with finally reaching Wave 1 on Thursday last week! The long-awaited patch gets to be publicly displayed as it’s painstakingly slow crawl out of the hands of Evocati yields results. Many players exhibit praise as the content is everything people have been waiting for years for, and many others express doubt to its deployment to Live anytime soon as it still seems to be very buggy and crash-laden. Wave 1 playtesting will still be under heavy scrutiny, as the server gets to wider audiences and more load gets placed on the servers and more eyes can find buggy features to report. But the overall impression the patch is receiving seems to be very positive, with the inclusion of furniture, freight elevators, item banks, instanced hangars and much more! We’ll continue to keep an eye on this as we get closer to Fall!
