New year, new me, new direction, better pizza, Papa Johns
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you citizens! After a long hiatus, the website has been reactivated with hopes to bring you the latest updates, angular talking points, and hottest takes surrounding Star Citizen and the upcoming anticipated release of Squadron 42. This came at a point in time particularly regarding the latter topic; some of you who may be following a bit more closely may have already read the annual end of year “Letter from the Chairman”, a statement published by Chris Roberts himself.
Squadron 42 has a release window… and we’re in it! 2026 has been pinged as the year of Squadron, confirmed by the man himself. Now, whether or not your trust has been dashed by the previous comments he may have made throughout the year, it’s still a very important claim to make. Over the last year, CIG has been steadily progressing Star Citizen’s condition at a noticeably accelerated rate, and comments made from developers and supervisors alike have been much tamer and more responsible compared to previous years. In a way, they’ve largely achieved no less than what they’ve claimed to have achieve since Citizencon 2024. Commendable, to say the least, regardless of some who still woe the game’s health today.
As we venture forth through the great drought that is post-holiday season break, signs of life have been seen at CIG with their pushing the next patch into testing after their final 2025 release with Engineering gameplay. The Evocati test group has gotten to lay their hands on what’s next finally, of course under NDA… but this comes as a major sign that CIG intends to keep their pace with development as last year, or at least close to it. Last year was close to one major patch release every month; by the sounds of it they want to continue pushing for more frequent patch releases, if not as frequent as last year. We shall see! One thing we know is with most patch releases comes new content… and potentially, more ships.
They’ve teased a number of different manufactures over a Star Citizen Live (SCL) video during the International Aerospace Expo (IAE) last year, with Vehicle Director John Crewe, Vehicle Art Director Ben Curtis, and Lead Vehicle Content Designer Mark Gibson spilling the beans on which brands of ships are to be released (or at the very least worked on). They a few ships planned for this year as releases include the highly anticipated Drake Ironclads, the MISC Hull B, the Gatac Railen, as well as the RSI Galaxy as the marquee planned later for IAE. Other concepts were teased, to include the Anvil Atlas-variant vehicle “Auxilia”, the Kruger “Stingray”, and the CNOU “Forge”. Other mentions regarding the Command Module for both the Caterpillar and Ironclads, and a potential Aurora Mk II. Lots of exciting additions to an already vast range of vehicles!
I for one am super excited for 2026. With the potential for Squadron 42 to release this year, that alone is enough to invigorate a very jaded fanbase exhausted of defending an alpha development project from being labeled as a “scam” for over a decade now. It’s a very big year no matter what anyone says, and I hope you are just as excited as I am to sink teeth into the cinematic experience that is Squadron!
Take care, and God bless! time to kick it into gear with a fresh new year, citizens!
